Trent University Nursing Admissions Essays

Each program below has specific application requirements and deadlines. Your complete application must be submitted by the program deadline. All non-U.S. citizens must review the application requirements for international applicants.

Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing

  • Transcripts: All post-secondary transcripts from every school where college credit was earned, not just degree-granting institutions.
  • Recommendations: Using our secure, personalized form, three (3) recommendations that attest to the applicant's academic ability, professional competency and personal character must be submitted electronically by each recommender during the application process.
  • Personal Statement: Four comprehensive essays are required and must be uploaded into the supplemental section after application is submitted. Each statement has a maximum of one page, double spaced, 11-12 font size. You must include the question number and question as the header.

Master of Science in Nursing

  • Transcripts: All post-secondary transcripts from every school where college credit was earned, not just degree-granting institutions.
  • Recommendations: Using our secure, personalized form, three (3) professional recommendations that attest to the applicant's academic ability, professional competency and personal character must be submitted electronically by each recommender during the application process.
  • Personal Statement: Three comprehensive essays are required and must be uploaded into the supplemental section after application is submitted. Each statement has a maximum of one page, double spaced, 11-12 font size. You must include the question number and question as the header.
  • Resume/CV: Resume and/or CV must be uploaded in the application.
  • Official GRE Scores: The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is required for all applicants who have a cumulative undergraduate GPA below 3.4. The GRE is waived if you have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.4 or higher or if you have earned a master's or higher-level degree from an accredited institution. GRE scores should be sent directly to the Duke University Graduate School. The GRE school code is R5156. Official GRE scores must arrive before the application deadline date. Scores can take up to 24 days to arrive to the school.

Post-Graduate Certificate

  • Essay: A two-page essay describing your goals in undertaking doctoral study, including an indication of your proposed focus.
  • Writing Sample: Submit one academic writing sample, such as an article or term/course paper (no more than 15 pages long).

Specialty Certificate

Duke University's Annual Clery Security Report as Mandated by Federal Statute 20 USC § 1092.
